SUNY College at Brockport alumna Vira Hladun-Goldmann has funded a $7,500 scholarship in her name, targeted to underrepresented minority students. One scholarship will be available for the fall 2001 semester and may grow to a total of four scholarships over four years, each renewable for up to four years of study.
Florida A&M University’s School of Graduate Studies and Research was awarded a $692,568 grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The grant will be used for the Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need program.
Xavier University of Louisiana was awarded a $250,000 grant from the AT&T Foundation. The grant will support three programs — the SOAR 3 summer program for students, the computer engineering curriculum and the development of a distributed, online education program.
The National Science Foundation will award $2,573,421 to Saint Augustine’s College of North Carolina over the next five years. The money will be used to support the activities of the college’s Living and Learning Science Retention Program.
The University of California, San Francisco School of Dentistry has received a $1.19 million grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The grant will be used to expand the school’s successful outreach programs and to establish a Comprehensive Health Careers Opportunity Program.
Colorado State University’s earth resources program has received a $4.3 million gift from Ed Warner, a renowned geologist, philanthropist and alumnus. The gift will be used to create two endowed chairs and provide funding for graduate teaching assistantships and a high-tech spatial analysis laboratory.
