Working alongside peers from the Voice of the Experienced (VOTE) and Louisiana State University’s Health Sciences Center, Armstrong will focus on the effects of incarceration on health service in Louisiana.

Additionally, she will study current health practice and policies effecting prisoners, analyze post-incarceration health services and address health inequity gaps.

“We already know that being incarcerated can have a profound impact on individuals, their families, and their communities,” said Armstrong. “With this RWJF grant, our team can focus on the relationships between incarceration and health care with the goal of promoting healthier communities throughout our state.”
