Maryland Recognized as Most Web-Enabled State
FOLSOM, Calif.
The state of Maryland offers more government services online than any other state, according to a study released by the Center for Digital Government. The California-based center is an arm of the for-profit magazine publishing company E.Republic Inc.
The only state to garner a perfect 100 percent rating in the survey, Maryland received the highest possible ranking in each of several categories of services. The report was released in August, one of a series in an ongoing survey that evaluates electronic commerce and business regulation by the states.
“Maryland is giving its citizens the opportunity to do their business online and not stand in line,” Cathilea Robinett, executive director of the Center for Digital Government, told The Washington Post.
The Center for Digital Government conducted the study with the Progress and Freedom Foundation, which is based in Washington.
