Hank Aaron Establishes Scholarship at Clark Atlanta

ATLANTA – Baseball legend Hank Aaron has established a $100,000 endowed scholarship through his foundation at Clark Atlanta University.

The scholarship, from The Hank Aaron Chasing the Dream Foundation, will support Clark Atlanta students pursuing careers in public service, teaching, social work, humanities, science and medicine.

The first recipient of the scholarship is Elise Barnes, a senior early childhood education major from Naperville, Ill., who received a $4,000 award last spring. The scholarship supports, in perpetuity, one student per year at Clark Atlanta until more students can be supported through additional contributions or growth of the fund.

The foundation hopes to fund 12 such scholarships at colleges and universities across the country. The scholarship name, “4 for 4,” references the 12 times in his baseball career that Aaron went 4-for-4 at bat.
