Florida A&M University’s Minority Biomedical Research Support Program has been awarded a $6.5 million grant from The National Institutes of Health and the National Institute of General Medical Sciences. The grant, to be disbursed over a four-year period, will assist faculty research in Parkinson’s disease, anti-inflammatory agents and other investigations.
Ohio State University has received a $130,000 gift from Corbett A. Price, chairman and CEO of Kurron Shares of America of New York. The gift will be used to support the Institute for Race and Ethnic Research and Health Services Management and Policy Professorship.
Prairie View A&M University received a $402,304 grant from the U.S. Department of Education for the purpose of disseminating proven recruitment, retention and remediation practices to four historically Black colleges and universities: Jackson State, Fayetteville State, Kentucky State and Savannah State. The grant covers a 34-month period and will involve campus visitation, training and programs among the five institutions.
University of Colorado researchers have been awarded $15 million in federal funding over the next five years. The grant, from the National Science Foundation, is the nation’s largest in the field of atomic, molecular, optical and plasma physics.
Nine doctoral students in the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies recently received $413,500 in prestigious grants to pursue environmental research around the world.
The National Institutes of Health will provide Oklahoma with a federal grant of nearly $6 million to establish a network that will link biomedical research programs at a number of universities.
