Imani CheersIMANI M. CHEERS has been named associate director for the School of Media and Public Affairs (SMPA) at George Washington University. She will be the first African American woman to fulfill the role. Associate professor of digital storytelling at SMPA, Cheers holds a bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis as well as a master’s in African studies and a Ph.D. in mass communication and media studies from Howard University.
