by

Ja’Mahl McDaniel

Ja’Mahl McDaniel was named the director of the University of Kentucky (UK) Martin Luther King Center.

McDaniel, who had been serving as interim director, returned to his alma mater in 2018 to be the associate director of the center. Prior to his roles at UK, McDaniel worked as program coordinator for the Intercultural Center at Wake Forest University.

The UK Martin Luther King Center aims to recruit, retain and graduate a more diverse population of students and create a more positive campus climate and learning environment, according to UK.

“I am very pleased that Ja’Mahl McDaniel has accepted the challenge to serve as director of the MLK Center,” said George Wright, interim vice president for institutional diversity. “A UK alum who has an understanding of UK’s history and present condition, McDaniel brings a wealth of experience and a caring personality to the position. Our entire community will benefit from his leadership in this very important and visible position.”
