It is the first time the school has received an SSS grant, which will be awarded over the next five years. According to school officials, approximately 55% of Loyola students in fall 2018 were eligible to receive services from the SSS grant. Criteria for those services include being first generation, receiving Pell grants, or being eligible for accommodations.

“Through generous financial aid, Loyola University New Orleans prides itself on making academic excellence accessible to our diverse, national student body,” said the school’s president, Tania Tetlow.  “This grant will add even more individualized support in the Jesuit tradition of cura personalis – mind, body and soul.”

Under the SSS grant, eligible students will receive additional academic tutoring and advising; assistance in completing and learning about financial aid programs; financial literacy and wellness; and support for applying to graduate school programs.
