JOSEF SORETT has been appointed chair of the department of religion at Columbia University in New York City. Additionally, he was promoted to full professor in both religion and African American and African diaspora studies. Also, the director of the Center on African-American Religion, Sexual Politics and Social Justice, Sorett holds a bachelor’s from Oral Roberts University, a master of divinity from Boston University and a Ph.D. in African American studies from Harvard University.
