University of West Georgia faculty passed a non-binding, no confidence resolution against its president Dr. Brendan B. Kelly, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
Dr. Brendan B. KellyThe resolution passed Monday, 263 to 129, with 55 abstentions.
Several faculty members have criticized Kelly over matters including lack of transparency from his office.
The vote is meant to get the state’s Board of Regents – which oversees West Georgia’s operations – to resolve the issues, said Daniel K. Williams, the university’s faculty senate chair.
University System of Georgia Chancellor Steve Wrigley said that he and the board are in support of Kelly.
“While 2020 has presented serious challenges with a global pandemic and significant budget reductions, those circumstances do not change the fact that our university has to advance to best serve the expectations, needs, and aspirations of every student currently attending UWG and all those who will,” Kelly said.
