T. Shá Duncan Smith Appointed Santa Clara University’s First Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer

T. Shá Duncan Smith will be Santa Clara University’s first vice president for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and chief diversity officer (CDO).

Duncan Smith is currently Swarthmore College’s assistant vice president and dean of inclusive excellence and community development. She is also senior strategist for the Liberal Arts Colleges Racial Equity Leadership Alliance at the University of Southern California Race & Equity Center Equity Institutes.
In the past, she has served as director of diversity and inclusion at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, intercultural programs manager for the University of Michigan’s Center for Global and Intercultural Study and coordinator of diversity initiatives and academic support for the University of Michigan’s School of Public Health.
She holds a master’s of social work and a bachelor of arts in sociology from University of Michigan, and is completing a doctorate in higher ed management from University of Pennsylvania.
