Georgetown University and American University Require Matriculating Students to Receive COVID-19 Vaccine

Georgetown University and American University will require students matriculating there this fall to be COVID-19 vaccinated, 7 News reported.

Georgetown University E1618504022918“Following the guidance of our Chief Public Health Officer, Dr. Ranit Mishori, and our Public Health Advisory group, and in consultation with student, staff, and faculty leaders, we will require undergraduate and graduate students at the Main Campus, Medical Center, and Law Center to receive a COVID-19 vaccination for the fall semester,” wrote Georgetown President Dr. John J. DeGioia in a letter to the community.

As for international students and those abroad, more information will be given in the coming weeks.

“After weighing the many considerations, we are announcing that all American University students who reside on-campus or come to campus for any reason in the fall will be required to be vaccinated for COVID-19,” wrote American University President Sylvia Burwell to campus members.

In AU’s case, international students may be vaccinated in other countries that are using vaccines not yet approved in the U.S., Burwell said.
