15 New Racial Healing Centers To Come to Campuses, Following Gifts to AAC&U

The Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) will establish fifteen new Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation (TRHT) Campus Centers across the country after receiving a total of $777,339 in funding from various foundations in support of the centers.

Trht Logo BannerTwenty-nine colleges and universities currently host TRHT centers which, according to the AAC&U, are “community-integrated, campus-based centers” that “pursue the shared goal of preparing the next generation of leaders and thinkers to break down racial hierarchies and to dismantle the belief in a hierarchy of human value.”

Of the funding, $400,000 from the Lumina Foundation will support the establishment of eight new TRHT centers; $247,339 from the Trellis Foundation will support four new centers in Texas; $50,000 from Wiley Education Services will support one new center; and $80,000 from ETS will support the establishment of two new TRHT Campus Centers in New Jersey.

“AAC&U is grateful to these funders for their commitment to, and investment in, racial equity and healing on our campuses and in our communities,” said AAC&U President Dr. Lynn Pasquerella. “We are thrilled by this opportunity to expand the network of TRHT Campus Centers and to broaden the impact of this vital work.”
