Professional AppointmentsDr. Oswald P. Bronson Sr. has been elected to serve a three-year term as member-at-large on the board of directors of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities. Bronson earned a bachelor’s from Bethune-Cookman, a master’s from Gammon Theological Seminary and a doctorate from Northwestern University. Dr. Michael K. Fauntroy has joined the faculty of the School of Public Policy at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., as a professor of urban policy and politics, policy evaluation and race and public policy. Formerly with the Congressional Research Service, Fauntroy earned a bachelor’s from Hampton University and a doctorate from Howard University. Karen Hawkins, a professor of business administration and accounting at the Kendall Campus of Miami-Dade Community College, has been awarded the Friends of Kendall Campus School of Business Chair. Hawkins earned a bachelor’s in business management/accounting and a master of business administration from Florida State University.Warren Washington is the new chairman of the National Science Board. The board has dual responsibilities as national science policy adviser to the president and Congress and as governing board for the National Science Foundation. Washington earned a bachelor’s in physics and a master’s in meteorology from Oregon State University and a doctorate in meteorology from Pennsylvania State University.Larion M. Williams has been named director of development in the Office of Institutional Advancement at Savannah State University. Previously Williams was a vice president and manager of Wachovia Bank in Savannah. Williams earned a bachelor’s in business administration, with an emphasis in marketing and management and a minor in economics from Savannah State.Sandra D. Yates has been appointed director of development and major gifts for Lincoln University in Pennsylvania. Previously she worked at People’s Place II Inc., a social service agency that helps the homeless, and Swarthmore College. Yates earned a bachelor’s in economics from Wesley College in Delaware.
