Professional Appointments

Eric Beck is the new visiting project coordinator for the Center for East Asian and Pacific Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Formerly, he was an adviser for the Educational Talent Search (TRIO) program housed at Parkland College in Champaign, Ill. Beck earned a bachelor’s and a master’s from the University of Illinois.

Monica Bond has joined the Community College of Rhode Island as its dean of learning resources. Previously, Bond served as a dean at Roxbury Community College in Boston. She earned a bachelor’s from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and a master’s from Boston University.

Dr. Leonard Harris has been appointed the William Paterson University’s University Distinguished Visiting Professor, 2002-2003. Harris is a professor of philosophy at Purdue University. Harris earned a bachelor’s from Central State University, a master’s from Miami University of Ohio and a doctorate from Cornell University.

Dr. Willie L. Hill Jr., has been elected president of MENC: the National Association for Music Education. Hill is director of the Fine Arts Center and a professor at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Hill earned a bachelor’s from Grambling State University and master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Colorado-Boulder. 

Dr. Lucy J. Reuben has been named provost at North Carolina Central University in Durham, N.C. Previously, Reuben was dean of the school of business at South Carolina State University. She earned a bachelor’s from Oberlin College, a master’s from Case Western Reserve University and a doctorate from the University of Michigan.

Dr. Patricia Sims has been named the student services management director at J.F. Drake State Technical College in Huntsville, Ala. Sims earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of West Alabama, a master’s from Alabama A&M University and a doctorate from the Peabody College of Vanderbilt University.
