Dillard University (La.) and the University of Colorado at Boulder received a $350,000 grant from the Carnegie Corporation of New York to fund the second year of a unique partnership between the two universities that merges the institutions’ respective strengths in the humanities, mathematics, literature and information technology.  

North Carolina Central University received a $658,000 grant from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The funding is expected to help NCCU continue to increase the number of disadvantaged and minority high school students who enter the nursing field.
The University of Houston received a $20 million gift from George and Cynthia Woods Mitchell to fund the creation of a program that will attract elite artists and scholars to the university and establish the university as an international force for education in the arts.

The University of Utah’s Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health received $10,000 from the Workers Compensation Fund to go toward scholarships for graduate students.

The University of the Virgin Islands associate of science degree nursing program has received a three-year grant totaling $443,539 from the Bureau of Health Professions to increase the enrollment, retention and graduation of disadvantaged nursing students.

Western Michigan University received a $64,000 gift from the State Farm Companies Foundation to assist five outstanding students in their efforts to become teachers.
