Grants & AwardsThe Association of American Colleges and Universities received a $225,000 planning grant from the Ford Foundation to explore how colleges and universities can embed campus diversity in campus cultures and institutional structures. Colorado State University received a grant for $22.1 million from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases to construct a laboratory facility that will expand the university’s ongoing, world-recognized work in infectious diseases and biodefense research as part of national efforts to improve biosecurity around the country. South Carolina State University (SCSU) has received a three-year $810,000 grant from NASA to expand and enhance its space science program. The award was part of a national competition, in which SCSU was one of 16 institutions that were chosen from a total of 52 submissions.
St. Cloud State University (Minn.) received a $24,000 grant from the Otto Bremer Foundation to provide anti-racism training for faculty members.The United Negro College Fund received a $2 million grant from the Annenberg Foundation to help strengthen the preparation of minority teachers at UNCF member colleges and universities to increase the number of skilled educators in the United States. In addition, the UNCF received a $1 million commitment from Altria Group Inc., which will be used for scholarships and operational support.
Wiley College (Texas) has been awarded a $600,000 NASA Glenn Research Center contract designed to raise the academic achievement levels in science and related fields for underrepresented youth.
