Baton Rouge Community College (La.) received a $1,050,000 grant from CampusEAI Consortium to implement Oracle portals. These portals will enhance the college’s integrated teaching and learning interests, student services and other areas of campus activity.

Elizabeth City State University (N.C.) received a planning and implementation grant for $325,000 in partnership with the Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools. The grant will aid in redesigning the H.L. Trigg Community School over a five-year period.

Hobart and William Smith Colleges (N.Y.) received a gift of $500,000 from an anonymous source. The money will be used for the Admissions Renovation Fund to help combine the staff under one roof and improve a prospective student’s visit to campus.

Howard University (Washington, D.C.) Graduate School has been selected as one of the Council of Graduate Schools’ (CGS) 21 Research University Partners to participate in a $2.6 million, three-year Ph.D. Completion Project. The project is supported by grants from Pfizer Inc. and the Ford Foundation. Each Research University Partner will receive awards of up to $100,000 to collect and submit data on doctoral completion; to create and pilot intervention strategies; and to evaluate the effect of these strategies on Ph.D. attrition patterns and completion rates.

Huston-Tillotson College (Texas) received a $50,000 contribution from Dell Inc. chief executive officer Kevin Rollins. The contribution supported the establishment of the Kevin Rollins Science Chair. The gift, earmarked for an endowment fund to support long-term objectives, will also be used to develop a scientific infrastructure that facilitates the integration of teaching and research into the classroom, and will supplement the salary of faculty to support the advancement of scientific research.

Nashville State Community College (Tenn.) has received a grant of $140,000 from The Oprah Winfrey Foundation to help provide scholarships for part-time students.
