Professional Appointments

Dr. Rodney D. Bennett has been named vice president for student affairs at the University of Georgia. He had been serving in the position on an interim basis for nearly a year. Bennett earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Middle Tennessee State University and a doctorate from Tennessee State University.

Dorcia L. Medina is the new director of development in the Office of Institutional Advancement at Huston-Tillotson University. Previously, Medina served as associate director for development at Texas Southern University. Medina earned her bachelor’s from Excelsior College and her master’s from the University of Phoenix.

Peggy Boyles has been appointed director of development for the University of Arkansas division of student affairs. Previously, she served as assistant director of development. Boyle earned a bachelor’s from the University of Arkansas.

Dr. Robert E. Myers has been named president of Daniel Webster College in New Hampshire. Most recently he was chancellor of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s extended campus. Myers earned a bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate from the University of Maryland-College Park.

Dr. Felicia Brown-Haywood has been named director of student affairs at Penn State University-Harrisburg. Most recently she was director of student support services and intercultural affairs. Brown-Haywood earned a bachelor’s from Cheyney University, a master’s from Shippensburg University and a doctorate from Penn State Harrisburg.

Dr. Michael A. Plater has been named professor and dean of the college of arts and sciences at North Carolina A&T State University. He recently served as associate dean of the graduate school at Brown University. Plater earned a bachelor’s from Harvard University, a master’s from the University of Pennsylvania and a doctorate from the College of William and Mary.

Saul A. Green has joined Wayne State University Law School as university professor and director of the Damon J. Keith Collection of African American Legal History. He comes to the law school after four years with the law firm of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, P.L.C. where he was most recently a principal in the firm’s criminal defense group. Green earned a bachelor’s degree and a law degree from the University of Michigan.

Dr. Oscar L. Prater has been named president of Talladega College in Alabama. He had been serving as interim president for the college. He earned a bachelor’s from Talladega, a master’s from Hampton University and a second master’s and doctorate from the College of William and Mary.

Dr. Daniel L. Hendricks has been named vice president for advancement and public services at Western Illinois University. Most recently he served the Louisiana State University Alumni Association as special assistant to the president for advancement and operations. Hendricks received his bachelor’s from DePauw University, and his master’s and doctorate from Duke University.

Elizabeth Rowe, principal flute of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, has joined the faculty of the New England Conservatory. Formerly the principal flute of the National Symphony Orchestra, Rowe has held positions with the Baltimore Symphony, Fort Wayne Philharmonic and New World Symphony. Rowe earned her bachelor’s from the University of Southern California.

Dr. Beverly Washington Jones has been appointed provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at North Carolina Central University. Previously, she was the dean of NCCU’s University College. Jones earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from NCCU and a doctorate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dr. William F. Tate IV has been named the Edward Mallinckrodt Distinguished University Professor in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis. Most recently he held appointments in American culture studies, applied statistics and computation and education. Tate earned a bachelor’s from Northern Illinois University, a master’s from the University of Texas at Dallas and a doctorate from the University of Maryland-College Park.
