Professional Appointments

Arthur G. Affleck has been appointed vice president for institutional advancement at Bennett College. Previously he was vice president and director of the campaign at Hampton University. Affleck earned a bachelor’s from Tuskegee University, a master’s from Auburn University and a law degree from American University’s Washington College of Law.

Dr. Caesar R. Jackson has been appointed dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at North Carolina Central University. Previously he served as the interim dean. Jackson earned his bachelor’s from Florida A&M University, a master’s from the University of Florida and a doctorate from North Carolina State University.

Phyllis Lucas-Woods has been named vice president for student services at Cañada College in California. Previously she served as interim vice president. Lucas-Woods earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from San Francisco State University.

Angela Price has been named the director of Unity House Multicultural Center at Connecticut College. Most recently she served as assistant director of admissions and coordinator of multicultural recruitment at the college. Price earned a bachelor’s from Boston College.

Dr. John R. Simpson has been appointed dean of academic affairs at Philander Smith College. Previously he was a sociology professor at South Carolina State University. Simpson earned a bachelor’s  from Tuskegee University, a master’s from Atlanta University and a doctorate from The Ohio State University.

Dr. Darlene V. Willis has been named dean of students at San Diego State University.  Previously she served as executive administrative officer for student affairs at the University of California-San Diego. Willis earned her bachelor’s from UC-Irvine, and a master’s and doctorate from the California School of Professional Psychology.
