Professional Appointments

Mary Grace T. Campos has been named assistant director of multicultural programs and services at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She is in charge of advising cultural programs at the university. Campos most recently served as program coordinator for the university’s Women’s Center. She earned a bachelor’s from the College of William and Mary and a master’s from Virginia Tech.

John F. Ebersole has been appointed president of Excelsior College in Albany, N.Y. Most recently he served as associate provost and dean of extended education at Boston University. Ebersole earned a bachelor’s from the U.S. Naval War College and two master’s from John F. Kennedy University.

Dr. Julian Manly Earls has been named the 10th president of Alabama A&M University. Most recently he was director of the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland. Earls earned a bachelor’s from Norfolk State University, a master’s from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and a doctorate from the University of Michigan.

Dr. Maria Soto-Greene has been appointed vice dean of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey Medical School. She had been serving as vice president and chief of staff to the university president for the past year. Soto-Greene earned a bachelor’s from Rutgers University and a medical degree from UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School.

Cheryl Hunt was recently appointed internal auditor at North Carolina Central University. She had worked at the North Carolina State Auditors office for more than two decades, primarily with universities. Hunt earned a bachelor’s from Saint Augustine’s College.

Dr. Berenecea Johnson has been named associate dean of students at Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y. Most recently she was assistant clinical professor of social work at Georgia State University. Johnson received a bachelor’s from Dillard University, a master’s from Boston University and a doctorate from Clark Atlanta University. 

Dr. Tyjaun A. Lee has been appointed to the newly established position of associate vice president for enrollment management and student services at Tidewater Community College in Norfolk, Va. Most recently, she was director of counseling at Cuyahoga Community College in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Lee earned her bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate from Ohio University.

Dr. Allan S. Noonan has been appointed dean of Morgan State University’s School of Public Health and Policy. Noonan is the former Secretary of Health for the state of Pennsylvania. He earned a bachelor’s from Providence College, a master’s from Boston College and a doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley.

Dr. Peter Quimby has been named associate dean of the college at Princeton University. Previously he was dean of Davenport College, a residential college at Yale University, and lecturer in political science. Quimby earned a bachelor’s from Bowdoin College and a master’s and doctorate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. 

Dr. Denise V. Rodgers has been appointed chief of staff for the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She had been serving as senior associate dean for community health and professor of family medicine at the university since 1997. Rodgers earned a bachelor’s from Oberlin College and a medical degree from Michigan State University.

Melissa Roy has been named director of equity and compliance at Rockland Community College in Suffern, N.Y. Most recently she was a corporate associate with Hogan and Hartson, LLP. Roy earned a bachelor’s from Tufts University and a law degree from Boston University.

Dr. Terrell L. Strayhorn has been appointed assistant professor of higher education at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Prior to joining UT, he was a graduate research assistant at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Strayhorn earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Virginia and a doctorate from Virginia Tech.
