Clark Atlanta University President to Retire in June 2015

ATLANTA ― Clark Atlanta University President Carlton E. Brown has announced plans to retire in June of 2015.

School officials said in a statement Tuesday that he formally announced his plan to the Board of Trustees Monday after more than 40 years as an educator.

Brown, of Macon, joined the university as provost in 2007 and was appointed to serve as president in 2008. School officials say under Brown’s leadership, Clark Atlanta University became a Southern Association of Colleges and Schools model institution and noted several other achievements.

School officials say the university also established ties with Liberia, Brazil and Saudi Arabia and under Brown’s leadership and is one of 20 schools selected to host the Washington Fellows ― Young African Leaders Initiative program this summer.
