Student-Centered and Focused on Diversity and Inclusion

Tracing its roots to a commercial law course offered by the YMCA in 1908, Youngstown State University is an urban research university that emphasizes a creative, integrated approach to education, scholarship and service.
The university places students at its center; leads in the discovery, dissemination and application of knowledge; advances civic, scientific and technological development; and fosters collaboration to enrich the region and the world.

Jack FaheyVice President and Ombudsperson Jack Fahey leads the Division of Student Affairs, comprised of 175 full-time and 15 part-time staff members across various departments in the division, including Enrollment Services, Campus Recreation, Housing & Residence Life, the Kilcawley Center, Student Activities, the Center For Student Progress and the Student Diversity Program, to name a few.
Youngstown State University’s Division of Student Affairs is a student-centered organization working daily to be more inclusive.
As a part of this effort, division staff members continuously seek new opportunities to learn more about the diversity of their students.
