ACC Basketball Head Coaches

The Atlantic Coast Conference Has More Black Head Basketball Coaches Than Any Other Major Basketball Conference.

College basketball generates millions of dollars every season. For the hundreds of universities looking to be chosen to play in the NCAA National Championship, affectionately known as the Big Dance, the man who leads their team can be the difference between sharing in the wealth or sitting on the shelf.

Blacks make up 70 percent of all players in Division I college basketball. The percentage of Black head coaches, however, lags well behind that number. In fact, the Atlantic Coast Conference is the only major conference in which Black head coaches are the majority, with Blacks holding seven of the 12 top jobs.
