AKRON, Ohio ― A contractor dispute may delay the opening of the LeBron James Family Foundation College of Education building at the University of Akron.
The $18 million project is slated to be finished in early February, but the university says it terminated a contract with a general contractor working on the building.
Cleveland.com reports the university and contractor blame each other for the delays.
A university spokesman says other work is still going on, and the school is trying to finish the project as soon as possible.
James, who did not attend college, grew up in Akron before starring in the National Basketball Association.
His foundation is partnering with the school to provide free college education to students enrolled in the foundation’s I Promise program. The education college was renamed last fall as part of the new partnership.
