Clarion University Provost Named Frostburg State President

FROSTBURG, Md. ― Frostburg State University has a new president.

The University System of Maryland Board of Regents said in a statement Tuesday that it has appointed Ronald Nowaczyk to lead the school in western Maryland.

Nowaczyk is provost and vice president for academic affairs at Clarion University in Clarion, Pennsylvania.

He succeeds Jonathan Gibralter, who left Frostburg State last summer to become president of Wells College in Aurora, New York.

Nowaczyk takes over at Frostburg State on May 9. He says in a statement he aims to help the school enhance its value as an educational leader and economic partner.

At Clarion, Nowaczyk oversaw implementation of new degree programs to respond to student and workforce demand.

He also increased the school’s online program offerings at the bachelor’s degree level.
