UC Santa Cruz Fraternity Suspended after Drug Bust

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. ― A fraternity at the University of California at Santa Cruz is suspending the campus chapter after three of its members and three sorority sisters were arrested in a major drug bust.

KNTV reports Wednesday that the Lambda Phi Epsilon fraternity posted a statement on its website, saying in part, the fraternity “will be cooperating with the local authorities to understand what happened. The International Fraternity has placed the University of California, Santa Cruz chapter on a cease and desist, suspending all normal activity and chapter functions pending further investigation.”

Authorities say the six students were arrested Friday on suspicion of running a drug ring that uncovered more than $100,000 worth of MDMA, more commonly known as Ecstasy or Molly. Authorities found the drugs after serving search warrants at three Santa Cruz homes.
