Two interceptions for TDs lead N.C. Central past N.C. A&T

GREENSBORO N.C.

Derrick Ray and Jeffe Henderson returned interceptions for touchdowns in the fourth quarter, leading North Carolina Central to a 27-22 victory over North Carolina A&T Saturday night.

Ray took Shelton Morgan’s pass and ran 23 yards for a score with 8:30 left and a 21-19 lead for the Eagles (4-1).

The winless Aggies (0-4) took the ensuing kickoff and drove to its own 48. Morgan’s deep pass was picked off by Henderson, whose 72-yard return and score put N.C. Central in command.

N.C. A&T could only respond with Eric Houston’s 39-yard field goal with 4:51 left. Houston also kicked a 27-yard field goal in the third quarter.

Stadford Brown threw two touchdown passes for the Eagles, who managed just 199 yards of offense against the Aggies, who ran up 412 yards total.
