For the past 20 years, Diverse: Issues In Higher Education has recognized an interdisciplinary group of minority scholars who represent the very best of the U.S. academy.
This year is no exception. Although the process of selecting our Emerging Scholars — from hundreds of nominations — is always a daunting task, our 2020 cohortof Emerging Scholars is exceptional. These professors have distinguished themselves in their various academic disciplines and are actively working to make our society more equitable and just.
We invite you to take the time to learn more about these scholars and to celebrate their achievements. They are making a difference and changing our institutions of higher education for the better.
Each year, it is an extremely tough task for our editorial team to select only 12 scholars — this year was no exception. Therefore, it is our honor to kickoff 2017 by presenting these brilliant young minds to our readers. Of this year’s class of Emerging Scholars, each person is, in their own way, working to improve the lot of humanity. I have no doubt that you will find their personal stories informative as well as inspirational.
Our past Emerging Scholars include more than one college president, several deans at leading institutions of higher learning and an array of prolific researchers and thinkers.
