Johnetta Cole JOHNNETTA B. COLE has been named senior consulting fellow at the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. She is president emerita of Spelman College and Bennett College and former director of the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art. Cole earned a bachelor’s degree from Oberlin College and a master’s degree and Ph.D. from Northwestern University.
