Dr. Carmen Puliafito has been named dean of the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. Most recently, he served as director of the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and chairman of the department of ophthalmology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Puliafito earned a bachelor’s from Harvard University, an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania and a medical degree from Harvard Medical School.



Cassandre Henriquez-Kaba has been appointed coordinator of student services and civic engagement in the Collegiate Science & Technology Entry Program at Syracuse University (N.Y.). She earned a bachelor’s from Binghamton University and a master’s from Columbia University.



Dr. Eric Mayes has been appointed associate director of the Merrill-Palmer Skillman Institute and executive director of the Child Development Lab at Wayne State University (Mich.). He earned a bachelor’s and master’s from the University of Michigan and a doctorate from Howard University.



Alejandra Navarro has been appointed assistant university editor in the office of publications and design at Quinnipiac University (Conn.). She was previously a writer and editor in the publications office at Fairfield University. Navarro earned a bachelor’s from the University of California, San Diego, and a master’s from Columbia University.



Alfred Ramírez has been named director of talent acquisition and diversity at ACT. He previously served as executive director for Diversity Focus, an organization that serves to promote multicultural awareness and understanding in the Iowa City-Cedar Rapids Corridor. Ramírez earned a bachelor’s from Columbia University.



Dr. Sunil Saigal has been named dean and distinguished professor in the department of civil and environmental engineering at Newark College of Engineering at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He earned a bachelor’s from Punjab Engineering College in India, a master’s from the Indian Institute of Science and a doctorate from Purdue University.
