Hampton University Reaches Goal Of $200 Million  Three Years Early

Hampton, Va.
Hampton University has met and exceeded its unprecedented $200 million “Dreaming No Small Dreams” capital campaign and has increased its fund-raising goal to $250 million, the university’s Board of Trustees announced last month.
The university has raised $216 million over the seven-year fund-raising campaign, which was slated to end in 2003, making its mark in the record books for fund-raising among historically Black colleges and universities.
“That we accomplished this phenomenal feat three years early is testimony to the fact that Hampton University continues to make a difference in lives of the students we educate and the community we serve,” says Hampton
President William R. Harvey.
Alumni donors who have contributed major gifts include: Ed Hamm, $838,000; Alberta H. Faulkner, $370,604; Ralph Page, $300,000; Frank Smith, $250,000; George Lewis, $200,000; and Lexie Mitchell, $107,000.
Some corporate donors include Scripps Howard Foundation; John T. Dorrance; PepsiCo Inc; Kellogg Foundation; Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and Bank of America.
