KATHERINE A. ROWE has been named president of the College of William & Mary, effective July 1. Rowe is currently provost and dean of the faculty at Smith College. She will be the first woman to hold the presidency of the college in its 325-year history. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Carleton College and a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Harvard University.
