CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, BAKERSFIELD, has received a $1 MILLION donation from long-time Bakersfield residents, Tom and Barbara Hardt, to help build the university’s baseball training and playing facility.

CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, NORTHRIDGE’s Cinema and Television Arts Department has received $66,000 from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

CENTRAL STATE UNIVERSITY (Ohio) has received $599,500 in scholarships and other major project expenses from the National Science Foundation for science, technology, engineering and math majors. The funds will support the Benjamin Banneker Scholars program, which provides meritbased scholarships for current CSU STEM majors.

CLAFLIN UNIVERSITY (S.C.) has received a $1 MILLION grant from UNCF for the university’s institutional advancement program. The grant is designed to significantly increase giving to the university from alumni.

FRESNO STATE UNIVERSITY has received an $8,000 gift from alumnus Tom Dynjan and his wife, Helen, to establish the Tom F. and Helen Dynjan Endowment Fund. The funds will support Fresno State’s Central Valley Educational Leadership Institute.

NORTH CAROLINA CENTRAL UNIVERSITY’s School of Library and Information Science has received a grant of over $730,000 from the Federal Institute of Museum and Library Services for a project aimed at diversifying the work force. The grant was awarded as part of first lady Laura Bush’s 21st Century Librarian Program.

THE UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS FOR MEDICAL SCIENCES has received a $2.5 MILLION grant from the National Institutes of Health to provide colorectal cancer screenings and education in two Mississippi River area counties.

The MINNESOTA STATE COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES FOUNDATION has received two grants totaling $425,000 from the Blandin Foundation to help prepare high school students and college students for success in higher education.
