Professional Appointments

RONALD J. DANIELS has been appointed president of Johns Hopkins University (Md.), effective March 2, 2009. He previously served as provost at the University of Pennsylvania. Daniels earned a bachelor’s and law degree from the University of Toronto, and a master’s from Yale University.

ZEPHIA M. BRYANT is director of the Multicultural Center at Indiana University- Purdue University Indianapolis. She formerly served as director of the Office of Multicultural Services at McDaniel College in Maryland. Bryant earned a bachelor’s and master’s from Jacksonville State University.

DR. WENDY B. LIBBY has been named president of Stetson University (Fla.). She previously served as president of Stephens College in Maryland. Libby earned a bachelor’s and MBA from Cornell University and a doctorate from the University of Connecticut.

DR. DARRELL RAY is assistant vice chancellor for student life at Louisiana State University. He most recently served as the associate dean of students at LSU. Ray earned a bachelor’s and master’s from the University of Alabama and a doctorate from the University of Georgia.

DR. SHIRLEY SAMUELS is dean and house professor at the new Flora Rose House on Cornell University’s West Campus (N.Y.). She most recently served as a professor of English and chair of the History of Art Department. Samuels earned a bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley.
