Professional Appointments

KEVIN K. WASHBURN, of the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma, has been appointed dean of the University of New Mexico School of Law, effective June 30. He previously served as the Rosenstiel Distinguished Professor of Law at the University of Arizona’s James E. Rogers College of Law. Washburn earned a bachelor’s from the University of Oklahoma and a law degree from Yale Law School.

DR. PAULA ALLEN-MEARES is chancellor of the University of Illinois at Chicago. Allen-Meares previously served as dean of the School of Social Work at the University of Michigan. She earned a bachelor’s from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a master’s and doctorate from the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign.

DON GUTER has been named president of South Texas College of Law in Houston, effective Aug. 1. He was formerly dean of the Duquesne University law school. Guter received a bachelor’s from the University of Colorado-Boulder and a law degree from Duquesne University.

PHOEBE HADDON has been named dean of the University of Maryland School of Law. She previously served as a law professor at Temple University. Haddon earned a bachelor’s from Smith College, a master’s of law from Yale University and a law degree from Duquesne University.

DRUCILLA STENDER RAMEY has been named dean of Golden Gate University’s School of Law, effective Aug. 1. She previously served as executive director of the National Association of Women Judges. She holds a bachelor’s from Harvard University and a law degree from Yale University.
