Montgomery College (Maryland) received a $173,442 grant from the U.S. Department of Education to help strengthen and expand the international content of the school’s curriculum.

New Mexico State University received $1.3 million; Santa Fe Community College received $1.3 million and the University of New Mexico received $2.3 million from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation for community projects to increase the number of Hispanic students getting high school diplomas and college degrees.
North Carolina A&T State University received a $400,000 grant from the Motorola Foundation to establish a computer engineering laboratory.

St. Augustine’s College (North Carolina) has been awarded a $91,800 grant from The National Institutes of Health to support the activities of the Sponsored Programs Office.

Savannah State University received a $212,518 grant from the U.S. Department of Education to go toward Student Support Services, a federally funded academic support program, designed to increase student retention and graduation rates.

William Patterson University (New Jersey) received $10.5 million from alumnus Christos M. Cotsakos, chairman and CEO of E*TRADE Group Inc. The donation will further support the growth and development of the university’s College of Business, which will be renamed the Christos M. Cotsakos College of Business.

The U.S. Department of Defense has awarded the Yale Combustion Group of Yale’s Department of Engineering a $2.4 million grant to help develop lightweight, readily rechargeable microcom-
bustion batteries for the soldier of the future. In addition, Yale’s School of Forestry & Environmental Studies has received a $200,000 grant for student scholarships from the Evan Frankel Foundation.
