Clark Atlanta University received $500,000 from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to help support the university's academic programs in the social sciences. The grant will provide for faculty career enhancement, graduate student research fellowships, seminars, workshops and the integration of information technology into research and teaching.

Hampton University School of Nursing (Virginia) was recently awarded $364,933 from the National Library of Medicine. The award will be used to buy computer equipment and to instruct students and faculty in using health sciences databases.
The U.S. Department of Education has awarded $192,676 to the Partnership for Global Education, which includes Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, N.Y., and Union College in Schenectady, N.Y. The grant will be used to enhance the partnership's study abroad program in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Kettering University (Michigan) received a significant donation of computer-aided design, manufacturing and engineering software, hardware and training from General Motors Corp., UGS, Sun Microsystems and EDS. The donation will help prepare students for careers in engineering and manufacturing.

Ohio State University's law school has received a record-breaking $30 million from alumnus and retired lawyer Michael E. Moritz. The money will be used to establish scholarships and professorships.

The University of Michigan received a grant of $600,000 from the Ford Foundation to support public education, outreach and research related to diversity in higher education.
