Creighton University's medical interpreter training program has been established with a two-year $130,000 grant from the state of Nebraska. The program seeks to improve medical care by helping to reduce the amount of miscommunication because of  language differences.

The Diversified Information and Assistance Network (DIANE) Video Consortium, headquartered at Tennessee State University, has received a $1.1 million equipment grant from PictureTel Corporation.

Miami-Dade Community College's new hospitality management program has been awarded a $1.68 million Title V grant from the U.S. Department of Education's Hispanic-Serving Institutions Program.

The New Jersey Institute of Technology received a $2.5 million, three-year grant from the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education. The grant will be used to enhance industry-student links.

Purdue University's Graduate School's Office of Minority Affairs received a $1.9 million grant from the National Institutes of Health. The grant will fund an outreach program aimed at potential researchers, support 10 doctoral students, and support a formal mentoring program.
Wake Forest University's Babcock Graduate School of Management received $2 million from Wachovia to endow the Wachovia Scholars Program for MBA students.
