Professional Appointments

Dr. Jerome A. Atkins has been named vice president for academic affairs at Baltimore City Community College. Most recently Atkins was a dean at Excelsior College (N.Y.). He earned a bachelor's from Howard University, master's degrees from the Air Force Institute of Technology, Purdue University and Marymount University, and a doctorate from Auburn University. 

Dr. Oliver McGee III has been appointed chairman of the department of civil and environmental engineering and geodetic science at Ohio State University. McGee has held faculty positions at MIT, Georgia Tech and the University of Arizona. He earned a bachelor's from Ohio State and a doctorate from the University of Arizona.

Dr. Andree Nicola McLaughlin has been named the first holder of the Dr. Betty Shabazz Distinguished Chair for Social Justice at Medgar Evers College, CUNY.  McLaughlin, who has been a member of the faculty at Medgar Evers since 1974, earned a bachelor's from Cornell University, and master's and doctoral degrees from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Dr. Angelyn Mitchell has been named associate professor of English with tenure at Georgetown University in Washington. Mitchell earned a bachelor's from North Carolina State University, a master's from North Carolina Central University and a doctorate from Howard University.

Dr. Gary D. Rodwell has been named director of public affairs at Camden County College in New Jersey. Most recently, he was executive director of Philadelphia's Alliance Organizing Project for Education Reform Inc. Rodwell earned a bachelor's from Howard, master's degrees from the University of Southern California and Johns Hopkins, and a doctorate from USC.

Dr. Romie Tribble  is the new vice president of academic affairs at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, N.C. Previously Tribble was department chair of economics and an associate provost at Spelman College. Tribble earned a bachelor's from Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, a master's from the University of Denver, and a doctorate from Colorado State University.
