The American Indian College Fund received $10,000 from Wal-Mart stores and SAM’S CLUB to support the organization’s scholarship programs.
Austin College (Texas) has received $8 million from the Robert and Ruby Priddy Charitable Trust to support various positions within the university. The Priddy gift marks the largest trust/foundation grant in the college’s history.
Emory University’s Center for AIDS Research (Ga.) has received a $7.3 million grant from the National Institutes of Health. The five-year grant will help AIDS research efforts at Emory College, the university’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and four teaching and research institutions at Emory’s Woodruff Health Sciences Center.
Livingstone College (N.C.) received a $500,000 matching grant from the Bush Foundation for the college’s capital campaign. Gifts toward the matching grant will be used to fund the S.E. Duncan School building renovation project. The building currently houses the college’s Schools of Education, Social Work and Business.
Moraine Valley Community College (Ill.) received a $1 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to establish the Integrated Systems Technologist Program. In addition, the college received a $4,900 grant from the Secretary of State/Illinois State Library to help the college implement the Information Literacy Summit.
The University of Pittsburgh’s School of Engineering received $50,000 from Robert Agbede, CEO and president of Advanced Technology Systems Inc. The money will be used to underwrite scholarships and create a fund to develop diversity programs within the school.
