Research Journal on Game Development to Be Published

HINGHAM, Mass.
Charles River Media, a leading publisher of game development books, announces the launch of the Journal of Game Development (JOGD), which will publish academic research articles on the subject.
Globally, the game industry has become a multi-billion dollar industry in recent years, but little time has been invested in serious academic research on game development, according to officials.
The JOGD is expected to serve the game development industry and academic community. It will present leading-edge, original research, and theoretical underpinnings that detail the most recent findings in related academic disciplines, hardware, software and technology that will directly affect the way games are conceived, developed, produced and delivered, according to Charles River Media.
The JOGD will cover all game development related areas, including artificial intelligence, mathematics, physics, networking (e.g., massively multiplayer online games), programming, graphics, audio, simulation, polygonal techniques, real-time issues, etc. Other areas of importance and application for these findings include robotics, visualization and grid computing.
“The Journal of Game Development will provide a much-needed, peer-reviewed, medium of communication and the raison d’etre for serious academic research focused solely on game-related issues,” according to David Pallai, president of Charles River Media.
