Sorority Launches Science, Technology Radio Show

WASHINGTON

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., has teamed up with a Washington-based talk radio station to bring science and technology information into African American homes. The Science and Everyday Experiences (SEE) radio program is part of the sorority's ongoing efforts to get young African Americans and their families involved in today's highly technological society.

The radio series features African American role models in science, engineering and mathematical professions and highlights scientific research being conducted at private institutions and college campuses, particularly historically Black colleges and universities. The program airs Saturdays from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. until mid-October on WOL-AM (1450) station in the Washington area, but also will be made available to radio stations in African American markets and to HBCU-based stations. The programs also will be available online at <www.deltasee.org>.

Dr. Dhyana Ziegler, acting vice president for research and planning at Florida A&M University is the show's host. The show is funded by the National Science Foundation and is produced by Delta Sigma Theta in partnership with WOL Radio (which is owned by Radio One), the Delta Research and Educational Foundation and AAAS.
