Margaret Ambrose has been appointed executive vice chancellor at Southern University Agricultural and Mechanical College at Baton Rouge. She was previously the executive associate to the chancellor at the university. She received a bachelor’s from Grambling State University and a master’s from Indiana University.

Dr. Johnnella E. Butler has been named provost and vice president for academic affairs at Spelman College in Atlanta. Butler received a bachelor’s from the College of Our Lady of the Elms, a master’s from Johns Hopkins University and a doctorate from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.

Dr. Wendel Eckford has been appointed assistant professor of American and African-American history at Los Angeles City College. He earned a bachelor’s from Prairie View A&M University, a master’s from California State University and a second master’s and doctorate from the Claremont Graduate University.

Dr. Maurice C. Daniels has been named dean of the School of Social Work at the University of Georgia. Currently associate dean, he has served for 26 years as a noted researcher, professor and scholar of the civil rights movement in Georgia. Daniels earned a bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate from Indiana University.

Bruce A. King has been appointed assistant vice president for academic affairs and chief diversity officer at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. He earned a bachelor’s from Iowa State University and a master’s from the University of Iowa.

Dr. Irene Owens has been named dean of the School of Library and Information Sciences at North Carolina Central University. Owens earned a bachelor’s from Barber-Scotia College, master’s degrees from the University of Maryland and Howard University and a doctorate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
