Professioanl Appointments

Dr. Juliette B. Bell has been appointed vice provost and chancellor for academic affairs at Fayetteville State University (N.C.). She had served as dean of FSU’s College of Basic and Applied Sciences, was a professor of chemistry and was director of the Biomedical Research Program. Bell earned a bachelor’s from Talladega College and a doctorate from Atlanta University.

Arnold Dennis has been named executive director of North Carolina Central University’s juvenile justice institute. Most recently, he served as assistant director for the Durham County Department of Social Services. Dennis earned a bachelor’s from Howard University and a master’s from Adelphi University.

Dr. David J. Fike has been named president of Marygrove College (Mich.).  Most recently, he served as the college’s chief academic officer. Fike earned a bachelor’s from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a doctorate from the University of Maryland-College Park.

Dr. Kathryn Jeffery has been appointed president of Hennepin Technical College (Minn.). Most recently, she was chief campus administrator for the Charleston campus of the Community College of Southern Nevada. Jeffery earned a bachelor’s and master’s from Oklahoma State University and a doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin.

Shauna King has been appointed vice president of finance and administration at Yale University (Conn.), effective June 1. She has worked in various capacities at PepsiCo., most recently as president of PepsiCo. shared services, global chief information officer and chief transportation officer. King holds a bachelor’s from Saint Lawrence University and an MBA from Cornell University.

Kevin Malliard has been appointed assistant professor at Syracuse University College of Law. Most recently, he was an associate at Hughes, Hubbard & Reed LLP. Malliard holds a bachelor’s from Duke University, a master’s and doctorate from the University of Michigan and a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

Dr. Charles E. McClinton has been appointed director of North Carolina Central University’s Health Careers Program. He has had more than 20 years of experience in the business of postsecondary health education. McClinton earned a bachelor’s from South Carolina State College, a master’s from the Medical College of Virginia and a doctorate from Kent State University.

Scott Nichols has been named vice president
for development and alumni relations at Boston University. Most recently, he served as dean for development, alumni relations and communications at Harvard University Law School, where he had been since 1986. Nichols earned a bachelor’s from Bucknell University, and a master’s and doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Alexander J. Popovics has been appointed vice president for enrollment management and student development at Hudson Valley Community College. Most recently, he was vice president for enrollment management at Saint Joseph’s College. Popovics earned a bachelor’s from St. John Fisher College, a master’s from Southern Connecticut State University and a doctorate from Boston University.

Diane M. Picciuto has been named director of development in the division of University Advancement at Winston-Salem State University (N.C.). Most recently, she served as executive director of Morris Tomorrow Inc., a non-profit strategic planning organization. Picciuto earned a bachelor’s and master’s from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Ron Shelton has been named director of the Grants Office at Forsyth Technical Community College. Prior to joining the school, he worked for AT&T and Lucent Technologies for 30 years in sales and marketing. Shelton earned a bachelor’s from Catawba College in Salisbury, N.C.

Dr. Marshall “Sonny” White Jr. has been appointed president of Midlands Technical College (S.C.). Most recently, he was executive vice president of Guilford Technical Community College (N.C.). White earned a bachelor’s and a doctorate from Clemson University.
