Monmouth College President Stepping Down

MONMOUTH, Ill. ― The president of Monmouth College in western Illinois has announced that he will be leaving at the end of the academic year.

WGIL-AM in Galesburg reported Saturday that Mauri Ditzler has been with the college for nine years but has accepted a new position.

Ditzler will be president of Albion College in Michigan.

The small liberal arts college is a similar school with an endowment of about $160 million.

Ditzler says one of his key accomplishments at Monmouth was his push for vocational studies.

His time at the college also has coincided with several building projects, including a $40 million science and business center and two new residence halls.

Trustees will begin searching for a replacement.
