Professional Appointments

Dr. Carolane Williams has been named president of Baltimore City Community College, becoming the first Black woman to hold that position. She earned an associate degree from Olive-Harvey College, a bachelor’s from Chicago State University, a master’s from Troy State University and a doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Charles Abasa-Nyarko has been appointed vice president of academic affairs at Bunker Hill Community College (Mass). He holds a bachelor’s from the University of Ghana, a master’s from Brigham Young University and a doctorate from the University of South Carolina.

Dr. Brian E. Anderson has been named program director and assistant professor of social work at Mississippi College. He was most recently a professor at Tougaloo College. Anderson holds a bachelor’s from Tougaloo, a master’s from Louisiana State University and a doctorate from Jackson State University.

Candice P. Baldwin has been named director of multicultural affairs at Mount Ida College (Mass.). She holds a bachelor’s from Hampton University, a master’s from the College of William and Mary and is completing a doctorate from William and Mary.

Dr. Ken Burtis has been appointed dean of the College of Biological Sciences at the University of California, Davis. He was most recently a professor at the university. Burtis holds a bachelor’s from UC-Davis and a doctorate from Stanford University.

Dr. Francisco Hernandez has been named vice chancellor for students at the University of Hawaii’s Manõa campus. He most recently held a similar position at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Hernandez holds an associate degree from Sierra Junior College, a bachelor’s from UC-Berkeley and a master’s and doctorate from Stanford University.

Dr. Teresa Conner-Kerr has been appointed chair of the Physical Therapy Department at Winston-Salem State University (N.C.). She was most recently an associate professor at Elon University. Conner-Kerr holds a bachelor’s from Queens University and a doctorate from East Carolina University.

Dr. Dana Offerman has been named provost and chief academic officer at Excelsior College (N.Y.). She was most recently vice provost of assessment and institutional research at Capella University. Offerman earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Kent State University and a doctorate from the University of Wisconsin.

Dr. David Wilsford has been appointed vice president of George Mason University’s campus in Ras al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. He holds an undergraduate degree from École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, a bachelor’s from the University of South Carolina and a master’s and doctorate from the University of California, Davis.
