Professional Appointments

Dr. Elaine Johnson Copeland
is the new dean and vice president of academic affairs at Livingston College in Salisbury, N.C.  Copeland earned a bachelor's from Livingstone College, a master's in education from Winthrop University and an additional master's in business administration from the University of Illinois. She earned a doctorate in counseling and guidance from Oregon State University.

Joni Francis Oglesby
has been appointed associate vice president for human resources at Brevard Community College in Florida. Previously, she was director of employee relations at the college. Oglesby earned a bachelor's in organizational management from Warner Southern College and a dual master's in management and human resources development from Webster University.

Darlene Scott-Scurry
has been named deputy to the chancellor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Previously, she served as deputy executive officer for intergovernmental and legal affairs for the District of Columbia Trial and Appellate Courts. She holds a bachelor's in sociology from Clark Atlanta University and a certificate in court management from the National Center for State Courts, Institute for Court Management in Williamsburg, Va.
Dr. Kenneth Walter Mack
has been appointed assistant professor of law at Harvard Law School. Prior to accepting the appointment, Mack was a Reginald F. Lewis Fellow at Harvard and a Ph.D. candidate in history at Princeton University. Mack earned a bachelor's in electrical engineering from Drexel University, a master's in history from Princeton and a juris doctorate from Harvard Law School.
 
Dr. John Brooks Slaughter
has been named president and CEO of the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering, Inc. Slaughter holds a bachelor's in electrical engineering from Kansas State University, a master's in engineering from the University of California-Los Angeles and a doctorate in engineering science from the University of California at San Diego.
