The faculty union at the University of New Hampshire soon may take a contract dispute to a new level.
The union has scheduled a strike authorization vote on Oct. 1-2. The question is whether to give the union executive committee the authority to call a strike.
The faculty contract expired in June of last year and negotiators have been at an impasse since last fall.
University administrators accepted a fact finder’s report, but the union rejected it, meaning both sides must resume talks.
The fact-finder recommended a salary increase of 5 percent a year for three years. It was less than the union’s proposed 6 percent, but more than UNH’s four and a half percent.
