A video game soon to hit stores will offer what has yet to be seen: the Black college footballwatching experience.
Black College Football Experience (or BCFx), which offers the chance to play a football game and pick from teams outside of the traditionally White institutions has been in the works for about four years. Brian Jackson, the creative director for Nerjyzed Entertainment, said for years while working for Electronic Arts, maker of the popular Madden football line, that he wanted to see something like BCFx. The game will feature schools from the athletic conferences saturated with HBCU football teams. To enhance the experience, creators also included bands and cheerleaders from the colleges performing at halftime, stadiums similar to those at SWAC and CIAA schools, and 10 authentic classics.
It will be available for PCs on Nov. 23 and is being previewed by students at HBCUs across the country during a promotional road tour. Jackson said the game’s PC version should be followed by a version on the Xbox 360 sometime in the near future.
